About Adventure Minds

At Adventure Minds, we believe that learning should never be limited to the four walls of a classroom. Founded on the Gold Coast, Queensland, our mission is to help homeschool children and families thrive through outdoor education, social development, fitness, leadership training, and unforgettable adventures.

We specialise in creating a supportive and enriching environment where homeschool students can develop lifelong skills, build lasting friendships, and discover the joy of being active in the great outdoors. Whether it is climbing, team challenges, fitness games, or group adventures, every session is designed to nurture confidence, resilience, and connection.

Supporting the Homeschool Community

Adventure Minds exists first and foremost to support the growing homeschool community in South-East QLD and Northern NSW. Parents who choose homeschooling often look for opportunities where their children can socialise, stay active, and build leadership and teamwork skills. That is exactly what we provide.

Through carefully structured outdoor programs, homeschool children learn how to:

  • Develop social skills through group activities and teamwork

  • Improve fitness and wellbeing in a safe, active, outdoor setting

  • Build leadership qualities and confidence through guided challenges

  • Strengthen resilience, independence, and problem-solving abilities

  • Form deep, meaningful friendships with like-minded peers

By blending physical activity with social and emotional learning, Adventure Minds gives homeschool families peace of mind that their children are not only learning academically at home but are also growing in all areas of life.

Lifelong Benefits of Outdoor Learning

Research consistently shows that outdoor adventure programs have a profound impact on children’s development. At Adventure Minds, every session is designed to balance fun, physical activity, and valuable life lessons.

Children gain:

  • Stronger communication and teamwork skills

  • Improved mental health and resilience

  • Better physical strength and coordination

  • A sense of belonging and community connection

  • Experiences that prepare them for real-world challenges

We believe these are essential outcomes for homeschoolers who deserve the same opportunities for growth, connection, and adventure as students in mainstream education.

Holiday Programs for All Families

While our core focus is homeschool education and enrichment, Adventure Minds also runs exciting school holiday programs that are open to the wider community. During holiday breaks, children from public schools, private schools, and homeschooling families all come together to share in outdoor adventure.

These holiday programs are a chance for every child to:

  • Step away from screens and engage with nature

  • Make new friends across different backgrounds

  • Enjoy outdoor activities designed for fun, learning, and growth

  • Experience adventure and leadership challenges in a safe, supervised environment

Parents love these holiday experiences because they provide children with healthy, active, and social alternatives during the break, while also allowing them to gain valuable life skills.

Why Families Choose Adventure Minds

Homeschool families choose Adventure Minds because we understand the needs of their children, and we know how to create experiences that blend learning, fitness, and fun. Our programs are built around:

  • Community: We foster strong connections among children and families.

  • Adventure: Every activity encourages children to step out of their comfort zone.

  • Growth: We focus on personal development alongside social and physical skills.

Our ultimate goal is to empower young people to become confident, resilient, and socially connected leaders of tomorrow.

Cato Sibthorpe
Founder and Director

Cato Sibthorpe is the founder of Adventure Minds, with over a decade of experience mentoring young people. He has led self-development programs in high schools, created outdoor adventures for homeschoolers, and facilitated men’s circles that help boys and men reconnect with confidence, purpose, and play.

As a qualified NLP practitioner, ex-competition gymnast, and ultra-marathon runner, Cato knows firsthand the value of discipline, resilience, and stepping outside your comfort zone, lessons he now passes on to every child in the program.

When he’s not out leading programs, Cato loves dancing salsa, running men’s circles that help guys reconnect with confidence and purpose, and simply spending quality time with the people who matter most.

Santos Allende
Facilitator

Santos is originally from Argentina and has spent the past five years travelling and working around the world. During this time, he has coached football, taught skiing, and helped young people discover their potential through sport, movement, and by embracing their authentic selves.

He brings energy, warmth, and a global perspective to Adventure Minds, and is excited to support children as they grow in confidence and resilience. Parents are encouraged to reach out to Santos anytime with questions or support needs.

Outside of Adventure Minds, Santos enjoys playing football, skiing whenever he can, and spending quality time with friends. He loves staying active and creating connections with people from all walks of life.

Facilitator

Kia Ora, everyone! (That’s hello in Māori — the language of New Zealand’s native people.)

A semi-professional rugby league player, he has been playing the sport since the age of four. Sport has shaped much of Julian’s life, and he is passionate about using it to help children build confidence, form meaningful connections, and develop the core skills they’ll carry through life.

Growing up in a family of six gave Julian plenty of experience supporting both younger and older siblings. Before joining Adventure Minds, he worked in a community role with the NRL’s New Zealand Warriors, travelling to schools across the country and learning from some incredible mentors and leaders along the way.

Outside of Adventure Minds, Julian continues to train and play rugby league, enjoys spending time with his family, and makes the most of opportunities to connect with people through sport and community.
